モータの回転力を偏心シャフトで上下動に変換して、ナイフ状の刃物を上下動させ、固定側の刃物とで材料を挟んでセン断する。この動作の連続で切断する。 さらに応用させ、固定側の刃物を二枚にして上下動する厚みのあるナイフ状の刃物を挟んだ構造にし、帯状に切り屑を排出しながら切断する。
